Motorsports News

After a successful season of racing, Dickey Racing has stepped up their program. Kelly Racing Enterprises, Wickline Motorsports, and BarbaraTerry.com will be teaming up with Dickey Racing for one of the most aggressive seasons in recent years.  Seasoned road racer Richard Dickey will be seated in a variety of race vehicles while concentrating on the ever challenging SCCA Road Racing Series and the two Baja efforts.

Wickline Motorsports has taken Dickey Racing, more specifically driver Dickey, as a team driver and will support his efforts in both the SCCA series and other selected events.  In conjunction, Dickey will display his NASA sanctioned American Iron IROC Camaro at two NHRA events in which Rick Wickline will drive his Top Dragster.

Long time partner and ex-Nissan driver Mike Kelly will continue to back Dickey as car owner and team principle in an effort to put his 2004 Mazda RX-8 in the winner's circle at the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in Topeka.  At the same time, Dickey Racing will be supporting Mike's effort to take a Regional Championship in the same car.  Asked about getting back in the driver's seat, Mike explained jokingly, "I can't take it anymore, I've gotta drive something."  He went on to say, "Seriously, we want to win both regional and national points this year and many of these races coincide on the same weekend."

After a gallant effort in the 40th Baja 1000 last year, celebrity host and promoter Barbara Terry, has contracted the road racer to co-drive both the Baja 500 and the 1000.  Dickey Racing will have some involvement in the technical aspects of the Baja buggy but any details have yet to be disclosed.  Known mostly as a road racer, Dickey has been a rally driver since his first TSD in 1971 and the founder of the 20 year, 1200 mile, Comanche Peak Road Rally of Texas. An on and off road, outlaw rally throughout the greater Southwest.

"We've got a full plate this year," expressed Dickey.  "My crew has come together well, since last season, and we are prepared for what confronts us.  Dedication, a little luck, and time willing, we'll make it happen.  It's a great opportunity and an exciting challenge."

Dickey Racing would like to thank our supporters Kumho Tire, Kelly Racing Enterprises, Wickline Motorsports, Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development, barbaraterry.com, Motorsport Sales of Dallas, Nissan Motorsports, Track Tek Racing Fuels, and local Granbury sponsors A-1 Paint and Body, Granbury Muffler, Quality Automotive, Discount Tire of Granbury, Barking Rocks Winery, and JCS Import Services.
